⚡ On April 2, 1978, a tremendous explosion shattered the calm of Bell Island, Newfoundland.

The blast shook homes, damaged electrical systems, destroyed a chicken coop, killed animals, and left unusual holes near the Bickford family property. Inside the home, glass fuses reportedly flew from the fuse box and embedded themselves in a hallway wall.

Then there were the lights. 🔵

Twelve-year-old Darin Bickford described an eerie silence immediately before the boom. The birds stopped chirping. The dogs stopped barking. After the explosion, he reported seeing luminous spheres swirling close to the ground with blue, orange, and yellow light.

Was Bell Island struck by an exceptionally rare lightning superbolt? Were the spheres a form of ball lightning? Could the island’s iron-rich geology have played a role? Or did the event have a more secretive connection to Cold War technology and invisible radio waves?

Join host Matt Wilson, producer Juniper Ravenwood, and commentator Chris Beach as they investigate one of Canada’s strangest unexplained events. 🌒
